Saturday Poetry Series of Williamsburg

The first Saturday of every month, September through June, poetry lovers are treated to an hour of excellent poetry from 11:00am to noon, at the Williamsburg - James City County Regional Library at Norge.  Five or six poets present each month; regular attendees enjoy the works of fifty to sixty poets per season.  Members from the Central and Southeast Regions join those from the Eastern Region to form an audience that averages about 40 for each presentation.  To extend the social aspects of the program, normally 20-25 attendees have lunch together at a close-by restaurant.

When VP, Eastern Region in 1999, Ed Lull started the program at the Barnes & Noble William & Mary College Bookstore in the restored area of Williamsburg.  The program soon outgrew that venue and one other before settling in the library at Norge.  By sharing sponsorship of the program with the library system, PSV is not charged for the use of the Community Room; poets present for free; admission is free.  The programs are well attended because of the quality and variety of poetry, and the enjoyment of socializing with other poets on a monthly basis.

Directions: Take I-64 toward Williamsburg; Take Exit 231A (Croaker Road toward Norge); Go ½ mile, the library is on the left.
